An update regarding our club stance on the Covid-19 situation in light of new guidance from EA (available here: https://www.
After a recent committee discussion, it was universally agreed that we should not yet return to any sort of formal club training sessions, for either our Junior or Senior members. It is not felt that the balance of risk is worth it for heavily limited sessions.
Our absolute overriding consideration is ensuring the health & welfare of all our athletes, members of our coaching teams and also their wider family which may include vulnerable relatives.
Prior to us restarting we have a number of internal tasks to complete to ensure that we are EA compliant but more importantly that we are able to keep everyone safe.
When we do return to training, we would like to do so when we are allowed to operate with a larger group to make sure that we are as inclusive as possible.
Moving forward, we would like to engage with members – in particular parents and carers of our junior members – to gauge their opinion on the safe resumption of training. We’ll be in touch soon with a suggested way to gather feedback but if anyone has any immediate concerns please don’t hesitate to contact a member of the coaching team / welfare team.
And just to clarify, this is regarding formal club training sessions. Individuals can now run together in small groups informally and we are happy to encourage this providing members are safe and use best judgement. Please read and continue to follow the general EA guidelines on individuals running together.
We appreciate your understanding and continued diligence in staying safe. We will continue to communicate with you as the situation develops and look forward to when we can return to training and racing together.
Stay safe and look after one another!
