It has been a very busy 2018-2019 winter for the Juniors at P&B, representing the club at a whole host of events. Our Juniors took part in the Lightwater Valley 10K, as well as the first Bunny Run and FRA Fell Junior Championship races. A number of juniors also made personal achievements by completing their 100th park run. A big well done to them!
P&B Juniors had some fantastic results in the PECO cross country competition, with high overall finishes of 8th in the year 5-6 boys and 15th in the year 5-6 girls category. Both with best race finish places of 7th. There was also a good result in the year 10-12 competition with an overall finish of 8th and a best race finish of 9th place.
In the end of season PECO relay race at Middleton Park, the P&B Juniors entered four teams. Our two older boys teams finished 8th and 21st, our older mixed team finished 23rd and our younger mixed team finished 44th out of 57 teams. Well done Juniors!
Alongside the formal competitions that our Juniors have attended, the club has also been having fun at its annual McDonald’s Santa run in December 2018 and handicap race at Bankhouse in February this year. As always, the handicap race was very well attended and was followed by the Juniors’ presentation afternoon and disco. Awards were made to the Juniors for their efforts and dedication over the year and were presented to them by Alex Bell, P&B and British Commonwealth Games athlete.
Over the coming summer season, in addition to the usual track and field training, the P&B coaching team are planning to run some focused sessions to prepare the Juniors for the next cross country season to help build on their experience from this season.
It will continue to be a busy summer with Juniors continuing to take part in various fell races as well as taking part in the West Yorkshire Track and Field League. We are also hoping that some of our sessions will be joined by our friends Alex Bell and Andy Smith. We will also be running our the summer annual Rhubarb Run, which is always a good event and always well attended by both junior and senior members.
