West Yorkshire League 3 – Race Update and the Club Cross Country Consistency Championships!
Pudsey and Bramley were back in action on Sunday in round 3 of the West Yorkshire League at Wakefield. The course was dry and fast and featured the most climb to date (a warm-up for Keighley) on the classic loop of Thornes Park. Here is a roundup of the results:
Thomas Martin and Lucas Jamieson were out in U11 Boys finishing 22nd and 57th respectively.
In the U11 Girls, Mallerie Samuel led the charge coming home in 30th with support from Esther Umoru (39th) and Lydia Kelsey 66th. They finished 10th in the team.

The final race of the league takes place in Keighley on the 8th of December. For those who have only raced twice so far you need to complete 3 races to finish in the overall league.
League Stats – The battle for Club Glory
In advance of the final race I’ve been having a look at the stats from the first three races to see whether the Juniors or the Seniors are performing better. To provide a comparison I have looked at the athletes times as a percentage of the winners time. (P&B Athletes time/Winners time)
The 5C’s Champion Contenders – Most Consistent
Our most consistent performer across the first 3 races is Thomas Martin (U11) with the best average finish time (112% of the winners time). Rachel Pilling is in close pursuit with an average time of 113%. Graham Pearce and Jon Navis might jump to the top of the leader board however if they complete the final race with an average of 110% and 111% respectively. It is still all to play for in the final race. Will Thomas take the crown for the Juniors or will Seniors who take the glory?
Best Improvement – The 5C’s best improver
Also, having looked at all of our athletes performances, only 1 athlete has shown continuous improvement week on week. Well done to Esther Umoru who has been steadily getting closer to the winner in each league race.
Best Performances
Also looking back at the previous three races, the top performances, based on a percentage of the winners time are:
Race 1: Thomas Martin (110%)
Race 2: Joe Baxter (100%)
Race 3: Jon Navis (111%)
